DUMBO NYC Newlywed Session

I’m SO EXCITED to share this session. I photographed these magical people getting married back in July. Since it was my very FIRST wedding they took a chance on me. I had no work to show them and they just went with it. I will be forever grateful for these beautiful humans. In return for their trust I offered a “newlywed” session a few months after their nuptials. Well, about six months later here we are at their home and around their neighborhood capturing the colors and sights of this incredible city as well as their undeniable love. I’m obsessed with capturing couples who aren’t afraid to get expressive, I mean REALLY expressive. Love birds who are outwardly in love with each other and the world around them just make me melt.

Before our session I asked them what they typically do on a Saturday afternoon and they said they usually cook brunch and walk around hoping into local coffee shops and bookstores. They got married in a bookstore, one of them is an author and the other an editor so we HAD to stop at a bookstore that day! The bookstore they choose in DUMBO Brooklyn, Power House Books, was just under the bridge and had a incredible high ceilings with wall to floor massive windows overlooking the elegant arch of the bridge.

While where we photographed was intricate and delightful the highlight of the session was obviously their incredible passion for their love. These sessions are my ideal, it combines documentary, in-home photography with lightly posed moments sprinkled in between.
